How the Winter Fairy Came to my Rescue

My daughter has developed a sudden “itchiomesis” Syndrome which seems to strike only during winter time. Apparently all socks, tights, boots and jerseys are itchy, the only clothes which don’t seem to itch are shorts and dresses (eye-rolling).

Try as I might to explain why, during winter we are supposed to stay warm, it falls on deaf ears. Of late getting her dressed is a nightmare, the stuff of Stephen King horror movies! It’s the same routine day after day after day, it’s so exhausting.

At first, I thought she would let up, but oh no. Not my headstrong, stubborn, opinionated little miss thing [Spitting image of mummy :-) ]

I’ve taken to carrying her on my back, all 4 years and many many pounds of her, every day after bath time just to calm her down and get the bowling to subside. Which basically means, I don’t get to do much else.

She is taking to the piggyback rides a bit too much, though. She is sleeping on my back as I write because apparently she will “miss mummy too much” If she goes to bed on her own.

How such a little person get so skilled at the art of manipulation, I can only wonder.

I guess I am going to have to get used to this.

Note to self: Hide all summer clothes then claim the winter fairy stole them. Ah the joys of motherhood!!!
