Miserable me…or not.. 5 Practical Tips to Shake off the Blues.

Life may throw curveballs your way, that leaves you flat on your face, wallowing in the blues. You might not be depressed, but you certainly don’t feel up to doing anything. You don’t have to give up just yet, there is hope yet. Here are some tips to get out of the funk

1. Fake it till you make it

Make an effort to smile even when you don’t feel like it. Paste a plastic smile on your face and keep it there. Look yourself in the mirror and laugh out loud, yes you heard me right, lol. The more you fake the joy, the lighter you will feel.

2. Music — the food of the soul

Play music, whichever kind of music makes your heart feel good. Pump up the volume and put it on repeat. Just soak it in. Make yourself sing along. Lose yourself in the music and it might help lift the load.

3. Laughter is the best medicine

Seek out opportunities to laugh. Find a comedy series, a stand up comic, look up memes online anything at all that will give you a good laugh.

4. Break the time loop

Do something different, change your daily routine. Eat breakfast for dinner, dress differently, or anything else out of the ordinary for you. Break the cycle, escape the loop, it will help reboot your mind.

5. Tender loving care

Surround yourself with a strong support network. Ditch any toxic people in your life. Make an effort to get help, it might be the hardest things you’ve ever done, but you need to reach out.

Find a friend you can trust, someone at church, professional counseling just do whatever you need to do to get the help you need.

Don’t try to fight it on your own, the more you let the negative thoughts keep swimming in your head, the more you drown in the ditch. Get help.

You are special and someone does care…

There is no one size fits all recipe for curing the blues and I am by no means a trained medical practitioner. What I have given you is what has worked for me. Just give it a go; after all the only way from the bottom is up, right?
